KA CARE & ENEC to join international nuclear meeting

In just two weeks’ time, Dubai will showcase the Middle East’s peaceful nuclear energy programmes at an international nuclear conference in Dubai.

The conference — the Middle East’s longest running major gathering of global experts focused on the progress of peaceful nuclear energy — will address the key issues, challenges and requirements of establishing nuclear energy programmes.

“This is first time KA CARE and ENEC have both sent representatives to this, the most well-established nuclear construction conference in the region, which demonstrates how eager they are to meet with international experts in all areas of the nuclear energy lifecycle,” a source at Nuclear Energy Insider said.

Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KA CARE) aims to construct as many as 16 nuclear power reactors by 2032. It was recently announced that the Toshiba Corporation, Westinghouse Electric Company and Exelon Nuclear Partners have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to create a joint proposal that will help KA CARE fulfil its ambitions.

Meanwhile, theUAE’s Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) has long-declared its commitment to seek the advice and expertise of international organisations such as the IAEA to ensure the safety of its nuclear programme from its conception.

KA CARE & ENEC will join global senior level decision makers at the 4th Annual MENA Nuclear Construction Conference (September 24-25, Grosvenor House, Dubai) to benefit from international and regional operational case studiesto help mitigate technical, procedural and organizational challenges and ensure efficient project delivery.

They will also hear about the safety and cultural considerations MENA nations must overcome before, during and after construction to secure excellence and quality. Furthermore, they will gain insight into developing a comprehensive construction plan that details supply chain risk, scheduling contingencies and key workforce recruitment to ensure timely nuclear deployment.

The conference, which has the backing of the Middle East Association, the UK’s Nuclear Industry Association and the US-UAE Business Council, is accessible online if you’d like to find out more at: www.nuclearenergyinsider.com/mena/
