The conference — the Middle East’s longest running major gathering of global experts focused on the progress of peaceful nuclear energy — will address the key issues, challenges and requirements of establishing nuclear energy programmes.

Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KA CARE) aims to construct as many as 16 nuclear power reactors by 2032. It was recently announced that the Toshiba Corporation, Westinghouse Electric Company and Exelon Nuclear Partners have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to create a joint proposal that will help KA CARE fulfil its ambitions.

Meanwhile, theUAE’s Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) has long-declared its commitment to seek the advice and expertise of international organisations such as the IAEA to ensure the safety of its nuclear programme from its conception.
